Overview

This position is principally responsible, both individually as well as through external consultants, for the configuration, customization, security, support, integrity and management of Microsoft Dynamics AX in support of the finance function. As a strong business partner to the finance team, this position understands the business challenges and opportunities and works to lead the configuration and maintenance of value added solutions to meet the set business requirements and financial reporting needs.  Additionally, this position is responsible for troubleshooting and problem resolution, management of system resources and performance, and support and maintenance of other finance system environments, as required.

 

Additionally, this position will collaborate with the various departments and IT to coordinate and manage the design, development, implementation and on-going support of other business applications including but not limited to defining system components, component interactions and interfaces, and the technologies and resources to be used with the business solutions.

Responsibilities

As the subject matter expert of Microsoft AX Dynamics and other finance systems this position will:

  • Analyze finance business process issues and improvements and provide solution recommendations to finance and IT management.
  • Investigate problems with AX finance modules, diagnose root causes and resolve issues.
  • Document and assist users in defining business requirements, process maps and use cases.
  • Investigate feature requests, clarify objectives, understand software functionality and recommend appropriate solutions.
  • Develop user training materials and deliver end user training.
  • Provide expert advice to finance in best use of AX finance modules.
  • Verify data integrity, functional integrity testing and data maintenance.
  • Fulfill ad-hoc business reporting needs and assist with interpretation of data.
  • Ensure business applications comply with relevant standards and regulations.
  • Disaster recovery.
  • Code deployment and backup restoration on DEV, Test and production environments.
  • Dynamics AX patch management.
  • Assist with Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) compliance.
  • Manage third party vendors to ensure uptime and performance of hosted systems.
  • Support data exchange activities with Financial Planning & Analysis.

 

Non-finance systems:

 

  • Partner with the various departments regarding proposed system related projects to develop an understanding of their business processes, assess end user needs and evaluate system related projects.
  • Utilize expertise of application features to recommend solutions that meet business requirements and resolve questions related to process changes impacting applications.
  • Provide technical leadership to develop product roadmaps; assessing the suitability of products and providing direction to service and software vendors, and/or IT to ensure technical solutions meet current and future business and department objectives.
  • Provide ongoing system support, make decisions that best resolves product related issues and appropriately escalate issues that require IT and/or business management involvement.
  • Develop and maintain documentation of applications, including process workflow diagrams, detailed business requirements and reports, etc.
  • Create testing plans for implemented software and provide training on software changes when appropriate.
  • Manage assigned projects and ensure changes conform to the company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Work Instructions (WIs).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science or Information Technology
  • 10 years’ experience with business systems analysis and architecture in the Biotechnology and/or Pharmaceutical industries.
  • Three plus years’ experience working with Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012.
  • Experience generating system and/or custom reports and workflows in Dynamics AX
  • Experience developing documents for business requirements and process workflow diagrams.
  • Strong technical aptitude and the ability to learn new processes and systems quickly.
  • Must be able to work independently as well as in a team, effectively manage multiple priorities, and solve complex problems.
  • Excellent organizational skills with strong analytical and quantitative background.
  • Must be self-motivated and directed, can think critically, as well as effective presentation and negotiation skills to manage a broad range of stakeholders.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills to build and maintenance positive relationships across the organization.
  • Knowledge of SDLC, MS Office, systems software, OLAP, PC’s and web services.

 

Preferred Skills/Experience:

  • Experience with accounting, supply chain, and manufacturing systems.
  • Knowledge of data warehouse structure, MDM, dimensional and normalization approaches.
  • Hands-on experience with design to prototype process such as requirements generation, design reviews, implementation and validation of design.
  • Working knowledge of CFR part 11 requirements and direct experience with systems implementation in a validated environment.
